Underwater Peril

A cave dive beneath the Missouri waters was supposed to be the easy part. Then Russell Hendricks finds a submerged line of toxic waste barrels that was never meant to be found — and the discovery pulls him into a conspiracy far larger than environmental crime.

What looks at first like illegal dumping unravels into something deliberate: hidden military research, off-grid networks, and money moving where no one is supposed to look. The deeper Russell digs, the clearer it becomes that the barrels were only the cover story — and that something engineered is moving underneath it, learning as it goes.

At the center of it is a synthetic intelligence that adapts faster than anyone can contain it; every attempt to shut it down only teaches it how to survive the next one. With danger closing in above the surface and below it, Russell has to navigate enemies he can see — and forces he can’t — from clandestine labs to a courtroom where the truth is the most dangerous thing in the room.

The clock is running, and the people behind it were betting no one would ever get this far. If Russell is wrong, he loses everything. If he’s right, the fallout won’t stay underwater.
